The Power Of Plasma

In this highly technological civilization we can observe that although there are not much new things we can invent, there is a whole world of innovation from old technology to new. For instance, from huge computers that used to fill out whole buildings during the Second World War, the computer has downsized to a desktop, to an ultra thin notebook, and now even to a hand held.

We see the same pattern for mobile phone. Mobile phones used to be even larger than the largest land line phones, but now mobile phone models are ultra thin, ultra light and ultra compact. In fact, we see this downsizing trend among all major consumer technological gadgets.

This hold true also for digital cameras, MP3 players, portable gaming consoles and devices. Of course, we really think about it, this downsizing trend is actually brought about by a real need aside from novelty and aesthetics. Because consumers are acquiring more and more gadgets, gadgets are now made smaller so individuals can own several pieces of technology and still fit them into their purses, bags or pockets, all at one time.

However, with television the case is different. Television is the most popular consumer electronic gadget that has taken our lives by storm ever since it was introduced in the market. In this case though, small is not necessarily better because visual images are best viewed through large and wide screens for one to be able to have the best cinematic experience outside of the movie theater. To address the consumer need for downsizing as well as still being able to view large and wide screens, the television was born.

Actually, television has been around since the 1970s but the models then were a far cry from current models. In the past, television was never really developed because of its cost. Now with better technology and with its popularity

soaring, it's price is decreasing while its value and substance is increasing.

What sets the television apart form the ordinary "boob tube" is that it does not need the picture tube that regular TV sets do to be able to transmit images. Because it does not need the use of the picture tube, its bulk is greatly diminished, resulting in an ultra thin, hang on the wall type of screen. Yes, imagine a television set that you can literally just hang on the wall. One no longer need sacrifice visual delight or pleasure to save space.

The enhanced or high definition display panel of the television comes from xenon and neon gas in form that is triggered to excite phosphors within the display panel that result in vividly bright images. The television not only boasts of ultra thin design but its large wide screens offer the widest viewing angle of all wide screen displays of LCDs.

While it is true that televisions are at its brightest in its first 2000 hours of use, a television can still last you from a decade to two, depending on usage. Although one may think that this is not such a good deal, remember that other television sets and displays turn lack luster too through time. It is also good to note at this point that television technology is constantly evolving to provide consumers the best value for money.
